- FROSTBURG - Herman R. Dishong, 84, of 8 Howard Street, died Sunday in the hospice unit at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. He was born in Avilton, March 5, 1902, son of the late John C. and Elizabeth (Orner) Dishong. Mr. Dishong was retired from the Frostburg Street Department. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and St. Joseph's Holy Name Society, and was a life member of the Midland Sportsmen's Club. His wife, Laura E. (Walker) Dishong, died Feb. 16, 1981. Survivors include one son, Robert C. Dishong, Short Gap, W.Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Gracie, here, and Mrs. JoAnn Hanson, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; one brother, Samuel F. Dishong, Hyndman, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Goldie Walker, Zihlman; Mrs. Sylvia May, Elizabethtown, Pa., and Mrs. Marie Carbaugh, Thurmont; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian wake service will be held there Tuesday at 8 p.m. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Sacred Heart Hospital hospice unit.
