He was born on Oct. 23, 1932, in Pocahontas, Pa., to the late Murrell C. and Edna M. McKenzie. Darrell was a member and deacon of the Seventh-Day Adventist Hill Church. He enjoyed yard work, mowing and traveling. Darrell will be greatly missed and remembered as a loving husband, father, grandpa and brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Leona (Garlitz) McKenzie; brothers, Paul (Dorothy) McKenzie of Mount Dora, Fla., Murrell J. (Pauline) McKenzie and Delbert (Glenda) McKenzie, both of Frostburg, Md., Larry D. (and late wife Janet) McKenzie, of LaVale, Md.; sisters, Virginia (Walter) Shriver of Frostburg, Md., Eileen (Roger) Miller of Lonaconing, Md., Donna (Leonard) Cutter of Flintstone, Md., and Janet (Bill) Stairs of Meyersdale, Pa.; grandchildren, Nicholas R. Minder, Darren D. Minder, and Jennifer L. Singletary; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ellen Minder in 2006; three brothers, Carl, John and Wayne McKenZie. Arrangements by Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home of Mount Vernon, Ohio. Funeral services conducted Friday with Pastor Lou Toscano officiating. Burial in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Published in Cumberland Times-News on Thursday, October 29, 2009
