LAVALE — Sarah Frances Willetts, 75, of LaVale, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born June 13, 1934, in Newton, N.C., Mrs. Willetts was the daughter of the late Rev. Carl Homer Clapp and Maggie (Ivey) Clapp. Sarah was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, class of 1953. She was a member of the LaVale United Methodist Church, where she was a previous member of their choir. She was a member of the Junior Women’s Civic Club of Greensboro, N.C.; the Junior Women’s Civic Club of Cumberland; the LaVale Century Club; and volunteered at Memorial Hospital and the Meals on Wheels Program. Sarah is survived by her husband of 54 years, Earl “John” T. Willetts; her son, Bryan S. Willetts and his wife April, of LaVale; her daughter, Michelle A. Minnigh and her husband Brian, of LaVale; her sister, Betty J. Truchelut, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; her grandchildren, Andrew Willetts and Emily Willetts, both of LaVale, Heather Minnigh, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Kristi Minnigh, of LaVale; as well as two nephews, Kevin Leyh, of Lake Worth, Fla., and Craig Leyh and his wife Kay, of Lockport, N.Y. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The family will also receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A funeral service will be conducted in the LaVale United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. The family requests that memorials be made to the LaVale United Methodist Church, 565 National Highway, LaVale, MD 21502; the LaVale Rescue Squad, Inc., Post Office Box 3343, LaVale, MD 21502 or to the Kidney Foundation, 1107 Kenilworth Drive, Suite 202, Baltimore, MD 21204. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Barrera and Dr. Ranjithan for their kindness and compassion and to the Dialysis Unit of the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
