  Notes	John A. McKenzie Jr. [Salisbury] SALISBURY, Pa. — John A. McKenzie Jr., 84, of Salisbury, Pa., died Friday, July 13, 2007, at Meyersdale Medical Center, Meyersdale. Born April 14, 1923, in Meyersdale, he was the son of the late John A. Sr., and Bernadine (Knecht) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by a son, Patrick Edward McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, West Salisbury, and was a self-employed welder. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Salisbury American Legion and was founder of the Salisbury-Elk Lick Veteran's Memorial. He was past president of the Salisbury Lions Club; past president and founder of the Salisbury-Elk Lick Chamber of Commerce, founder of the Tub Mill Arts Association, founder of the Salisbury-Elk Lick Historical Association, co-founder of Adopt-a-Grandparent with his wife, and he helped establish the Salisbury Family Center. He was the first EMT in Somerset County and taught EMT classes thereafter. Mr. McKenzie received the Daily Points of Light Award for his volunteerism. He is survived by his wife, Ruth E. (Witt) McKenzie; one son, John Michael McKenzie and wife Lea, of Salisbury; two daughters, Sandra Miller and husband Nicholas and Pamela Rose McKenzie, all of Longview, Texas; one brother, James Francis McKenzie and wife Jane, of Salina, Kan.; one sister, Mary Marceline Kane, of Wilmington, Del.; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, PA, on Monday, July 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited Monday at 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Albert Anselmi officiating. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Salisbury Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded by the Salisbury American Legion.
