- Mrs. Vera C. McKenzie, 88, of Damascus went peacefully to be with the Lord on January 27, 2006 at Northampton Manor Nursing Center in Frederick, Maryland. She was the wife of the late Howard McKenzie. Born May 17, 1917 in Jennings, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Jason and Annie Durst Wilburn, and is the last of her immediate family. Surviving her are three children, Rodney McKenzie and his wife Bonnie of Frederick, Maryland, Wayne McKenzie and his wife Sandy of Monrovia, Maryland, and Ellen Kline and her husband Roy of Lenexa, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Jeff McKenzie of Gassaway, West Virginia, Sue Crum of Monrovia, Jackie Wright of Frederick, Scott McKenzie of Ohio, Tracey Herter of Shawnee, Kansas, Steven McKenzie of Colorado and Greg McKenzie of Frederick; one step-granddaughter, Cassi Kline of Lenexa, Kansas; 11 great-grandchildren, Amy Crum, Jessica Crum, Carley Wright, Stephanie McKenzie, Tammy McKenzie, Peyton McKenzie, Carson McKenzie, Katie Herter, Ellie Herter, Haley McKenzie and Jake McKenzie; and a step-great-granddaughter, Shanyn Herter. Mrs. McKenzie is preceded in death by a great-grandson, Daniel Wright. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, at the Molesworth-Williams P.A., Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, Maryland.
