- GRANTSVILLE - Harley McKenzie Jr., 67, of RD 2, Grantsville, died Thursday, April 22, 1993, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Born December 20, 1925 at Grantsville, he was the son of Mary (Wiley) McKenzie, Grantsville and the late Harley McKenzie Sr. Mr. McKenzie was a retired press operator for Harbison- Walker Refractories; a Navy veteran of World War II where he served on the USS Brush throughout his military service and participated in the liberation of the Phillipines. He was a 35-year member of Grantsville Post 214 American Legion. Surviving besides his mother are his wife, Mary Catherine (Brown) McKenzie; three daughters, Connie Scarlett, Ashville, N.C.; Linda Snelson, Springs, Pa.; and Carol Platter, Grantsville; two brothers, Robert McKenzie, Grantsville; and Ronny McKenzie, Beverly, W.Va.; two sisters, Betty Maust, Grantsville; and Patty Carver, Blacksburg, Va.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Yoder and the Rev. Thomas Godfrey officiating. Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214.
