- William H. Twigg Jr., 78, of Frostburg MD, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
William was born on July 28, 1933 to the late William H. Twigg Sr. and Mary M. Strachan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Joan Twigg in 1987.
Mr. Twigg was retired from the Celanese Fiber Corporation in the Spinning Department. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. William was a self-made contractor who enjoyed building, hunting and fishing, ginseng and wild mushroom hunting. He enjoyed music and was a saxophone player for "Gentlemen of the Note" band.
He is survived by two sons, William H. Twigg III and friend Amanda Downs, Buckhannon, W.Va. and Jeremy N. Twigg, Eckhart; a daughter, Deborah A. Twigg, Lonaconing; a grandson, William H. Twigg IV; two step-grandchildren, Daniel Cale and Chloe Cale. Also surviving is a sister, Betty Lee Stott of Cumberland.
Friends and family will be received at Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in the Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens in LaVale. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.
