He died on 10 Aug 2013 at the age of 71 in Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland. CUMBERLAND — Jerome “Jerry” McKenzie, 71, of Cumberland, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at Frostburg Village Healthcare Center. He was born in Finzel on April 7, 1942 to the late Hubert “Bud” and Vergie (Minnick) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Twigg. He is survived by sisters, Mary Agnes Burner of Frostburg, Juanita Kelsay of Frostburg, Wilda Deal of Pocahontas, Katie Frost and husband, Ron, oF Frostburg, and Judy Rodeheaver and husband, Dwain, of McHenry; and brothers, John McKenzie and wife, Alice, of Frostburg, James McKenzie and wife, Cecilia, of Hancock, and William “Buz” McKenzie and wife, Vicky, of Hagerstown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He graduated from Northern High School. He was a member of the National Guard. For many years, he drove tour buses for various companies. He had also worked as a dispatcher for the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. Jerry enjoyed spending time with family. In the summer he enjoyed gardening and making salsa and pickles. He especially enjoyed sharing hard shell crabs. Other hobbies included going fishing and attending the horse races in Charlestown, W.Va. He spent a great deal of time taking care of his mother, Vergie, prior to her death in 2005. Jerry donated his body to The Anatomy Board of Maryland. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father Ed Hendricks officiating. Cumberland Times-News, August 12, 2013
