Mrs. Elizabeth (Bessie) Mackey Durst, 77, of 304 Cumberland Street, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert L. Alstetter, Baltimore Pike. She had been in failing health ten years. A native of Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Stevenson) George. Besides her daughter, she is survived by her husband, George L. Durst; two other daughters, Mrs. Charles F. Strong, Bedford Road, and Mrs. Joseph L. Snyder Jr., Bowling Green, and one grandchild. She was a member of the Centre Street United Methodist Church, the WSCS and the Mary Martha Bible Class of the church. The body is in the Hafer Baltimore Avenue Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Owen E. Osborne, pastor of the Centre Street church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park. Cumberland News, October 1, 1968
