FROSTBURG - Thomas Franklin McKenzie, 82, a lifelong resident of Finzel, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Jan. 15, 1917, in Finzel, he was the son of the late Thomas A. "Davey" and Cora Mae (Steinly) McKenzie. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi "Honey" Lindeman and Verna Caton; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Jean (Baer) McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was a retired farmer and former employee of the Celanese Fibers Corporation. He was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg. Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Helen Lucinda (Caton) McKenzie; eight sons, Paul and wife, Mary, Clarksburg, Bernard, Salisbury, Pa., John and wife, Linda, Laurel, Harold and wife, Beverly, Severn, Larry and wife, Frances, Salisbury, Pa., Dale and wife, Gail, Frostburg, Charles and wife, Lynne, Finzel, and David and wife, Cindy, Meyersdale, Pa.; a brother, James A. McKenzie and wife, Clara, Finzel; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg , on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Saint Michael's Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Paul Byrnes, officiating. Interment will be in the Finzel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Gary, Richard, Barry, Douglas, Mark, and Brian McKenzie. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Bradley and Michael McKenzie. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg. Cumberland Times-News
