- Delbert Edison MCKENZIE (George Henry or Harrison-3, Francis-2, John M.-1) was born on 4 Feb 1896 in Greenville Township, Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. He served in the military in 1918 in France. Delbert entered the service on 28 April 1918 at Rockwood, Pennsylvania as a Private in Battery F, 314 Field Artillery. He served in foreign service from 24 May 1918 until 30 December 1918, when he was gassed. He was discharged from Camp Lee, Virginia, on 15 February 1919.
He died on 10 Jul 1944 in Somerset Co., Pennsylvania. Delbert E. McKenzie, 48, of 78 Westbourne avenue, died Monday evening at his home following a year's illness. He was born in Myersdale, PA, but had resided in Zanesville since 1925. He was a veteran of the World war, serving with the Field Artillery. He was an employe of the Hook-Aston Milling company and was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses. He is survived by his widow, Carrie McKenzie, one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Basehart, and a granddaughter, Rose Ann Basehart, all of this city; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Kiem and Mrs. Arthur Butler; two brothers, Sales and Dallas McKenzie, and his mother, Mrs. Sherman Bittner, all of Myersdale, PA. The body is at the Dean funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park. The Zanesville Signal, July 10, 1944
