- GRANTSVILLE — John William Swauger Sr., 68, of Grantsville, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland. Born April 30, 1943 in Salisbury, Pa., he was the son of the late Hubert Swauger and Dorothy (Housel) Swauger Dymond. Mr. Swauger was an employee of Hilltop Fruit Market since 1958. Surviving are his wife of 14 years, Mary “Beth” (Downton) Swauger; three sons, John William Swauger Jr. and wife Laurel, Inwood, W.Va., James William Swauger, William Joseph Swauger and fiancée Christine McKenzie, all of Frostburg; one step-son, Michael Kelly and wife Barbara, McKeesport, Pa.; one step-daughter, Kathryn Durst, Cumberland; one brother, Joseph Swauger, Grantsville; four sisters, Nancy Boyce, Meyersdale, Pa., Sandra McKenzie, Frederick, Shirley Kyle, Frostburg, Linda Arnold, Grantsville; three grandchildren, Lacy Swauger, Annapolis, Zackery Durst, Fort Benning, Ga. and Savanna Wilson, Short Gap, W.Va. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 at noon with the Rev.
