- Marvin Elwood Broadwater, 86, of LaVale, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born April 9, 1930, in Potomac Park, Mr. Broadwater was the son of the late George E. Broadwater and Mary Margaret (McKenzie) Broadwater. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ailene O'Neal; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. A graduate of Grantsville High School, class of 1947, Marvin was an United States Army/Air Corps veteran and retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. He was a member of the LaVale United Methodist Church and the LaVale Lions Club. Marvin was president of the Broadwater reunion for 50 years. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed listening to country music and Lawrence Welk. Marvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret E. Broadwater; his sons, Bruce Broadwater and wife, Jane, and David Broadwater and wife, Ann, all of Grantsville; and his daughters, Margie O'Rourke and husband, Gerard, Virginia Beach, Va., and Christine Tirado and husband, Greg, Baltimore. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Daniel Garlitz and wife, Danielle, Dallas, Texas, and Shelley Garlitz, Cumberland; his great-grandchildren, Bailee Linn, Landon Garlitz, and Kaeden Garlitz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The LaVale Lions Club will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Frankie Revell officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard. Published on March 27, 2017 in Cumberland Times News
