    • CRESAPTOWN - James M. "Bud" McKenzie, 81, of Cresaptown, passed away, Thursday, April 5, 2007, at the WMHS-Braddock Campus. Born June 27, 1925, in Cresaptown, he was the son of the late Emory M. and Elizabeth (McBee) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dwight F. McKenzie and his sister, Peggy Hershberger. Mr. McKenzie was a United States Navy veteran of World War II where he served in the South Pacific and was stationed in Seattle. He was a former member of PVAA and for many years maintained the PVAA ball fields and the McKenzie ballfield in Cresaptown. He was a graduate of the Cumberland Trade School and retired from Smith Engineering, LaVale. He was previously employed with the Celanese Corporation, and Miami Windows Corporation. Bud and Lorraine enjoyed their trips in their motor home to the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Maine and Mt. Rushmore. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lorraine I. (Hunter) McKenzie; two sons, Dennis McKenzie and wife, Cathy, of Cresaptown and Gary McKenzie and wife, Brenda, of Elkton; grandsons, Jonathan McKenzie, Mathew McKenzie, Dean McKenzie; granddaughter, Marlise Gilley; two first cousins, Annabelle Butler and Willa Jane Powell. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, PA., Cresaptown, (www.scarpellifh.com) on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be no visitation or service on Easter Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at the Cresaptown United Methodist Church, Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Laura Schultz and the Rev. Harold R. McClay Jr. officiating. There will be one hour visitation prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, Flintstone. Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Mat McKenzie, Dean McKenzie, Dave Hershberger, Dave Hershberger, Jr., Shane Saville, Jim Osbourne and Jonathan McKenzie.
