Notes	Transcribed by Betty Smith Joshua McKenzie, aged seventy years, of Greenville Township, died at noon Monday in the Miners’ Hospital, Frostburg, MD. He had been active until about ten days ago when he was stricken with a heart attack and other ailments. He was a son of the late Francis and Leah McKenzie. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Armada (Arklie) McKenzie and the following children: Mrs. Elsie Landis of Boswell; Mrs. Eva Werner of Cumberland, MD; Mrs. Ruth Hostetler of Meyersdale; Mrs. Hugh McKenzie of Mt. Savage, MD; Mrs. Beda McKenzie, Raymond, Harold, and Velma McKenzie, all at home. Nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Leo. Funeral services were conducted this (Thursday) morning at 10 o’clock in St. Mary’s Church, Pocahontas. Interment was made in the church cemetery, in charge of Jne F. Reich, local mortician. He died on 11 Nov 1940 in Frostburg, Allegany Co., Maryland. Joshua McKenzie, 70, a native of Greenville township, died Monday in a hospital in Frostburg, Md. Surviving are his wife, seven children, and ten grandchildren. The Daily Courier, Connellsville, November 14, 1940. ************************ Meyersdale, Pa., Nov. 12 — Joshua McKenzie, 72, died yesterday following an operation at Miners' Hospital, Frostburg. He was a son of the late Francis and Aleya McKenzie. Surviving are his widow, Amanda Arklie McKenzie, and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Elmer Landis, Boswell; Mrs. Irvin Hostetler, Meyersdale; Mrs. Eva Werner, Cumberland; Hugh McKenzie, Mt. Savage; Mrs. Beda McKenzie, Meyersdale; Mrs. Robert McKenzie, Cumberland; Raymond, Harold and Velma, at home; five brothers, Louis, William, Joseph, Thomas and Francis, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Bolden, Meyersdale. Nineteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. The Cumberland Evening Times, November 12, 1940 Samuel Joshua is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Pocahontas, Pennsylvania.
