- CUMBERLAND - Charles Garrett "Gary" Eagan Jr., 59, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2017 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born May 15, 1958, in Jacksonville, N.C., he was the son of Hazel E. (Deal) Eagan and the late Charles Garrett Eagan Sr. Mr. Eagan retired from the State of Maryland with 31 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cumberland. Gary enjoyed gardening as well as restoring cars and furniture. He was a diehard Redskins fan! In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Veronica (Leidinger) Eagan; and one son, who is his pride and joy, Garrett R. Eagan and Rachael Darkow. He is also survived by sisters, Eileen Y. Morgan, Beverly A. Kight, and Julia M. Cramer; a brother, Gregory Eagan; several nieces and nephews; and, his faithful companion, Shep. Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, from 6 to 9 p.m. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank Dr. Sunil Gupta, Dr. Umair Ahmed, and WMHS Dialysis and Wound Care for the kind, compassionate care provided to Gary.
