- Gilbert W. McKenzie – Grantsville – Gilbert W. McKenzie, 65, formerly of Avilton, died Friday in Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland. Born in Avilton, he was a son of the late Raymond McKenzie and Lula (Robeson) McKenzie. He was a member of St. Ann’s catholic Church, Avilton. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Thelma J. Lancaster, Nowata, Okla.; three brothers, Leonard F. McKenzie, RD 2, Frostburg; Paul R. McKenzie, Avilton; and Austin J. McKenzie, RD 2, Frostburg; three sisters, Mrs. Cecilia Dugan, Mrs. Ann P. Fowler, Star Route, Frostburg; Mrs. Mary Emma Warnick, Mt. Clemens, Mich. And one grandchild. Friends will be received at the Newnan Funeral Home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Gerald LaPorta tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church at Avilton. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Cumberland Evening Times, Tuesday, March 6, 1979
