- FROSTBURG — William Joseph McKenzie, 74, of 32 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1994 at Frostburg Hospital. Born on Nov. 15, 1919 in Westernport, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Anna (Schwartzer) McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was a retired Bamberry Operator at the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was an army veteran of World War II and attended the Frostburg United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Farrady Post 24 American Legion; Old Rail Post 6025 VFW, Mount Savage; Frostburg Lodge 470 B.P.O. Elks and a life member of the Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, Martha (Payne) McKenzie; one sister, Teresa Garlitz, Frostburg; two nephews, Roy T. Garlitz Jr., Frostburg; Carl Garlitz, Grantsville and two nieces, Delores Carter, Frostburg and Rita Ann Guthrie, Avilton. Due to the inclement weather, there will be no visitation. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park at a later date. The Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, is in charge of arrangements. Cumberland Times-News, January 5, 1994
