He died on 9 May 1962 in Sykesville, Carroll Co., Maryland. FROSTBURG - Thomas L. McKenzie, 88, native of Garrett County, died yesterday at the home of a son, Grant McKenzie, RD 3, Sykesville. Born in Avilton, he was a son of the late Zachary and Margaret (Durst) McKenzie. Surviving, besides the son with whom he resided, are another son, Marshall McKenzie, Cresaptown, a brother, Joseph McKenzie, Alexandria, Va., and sisters, Mrs. Rachel Deibler and Mrs. Ella Drees, both of Frostburg, and Mrs. Matilda Warne, Grantsville. The body will be returned to Avilton for graveside services at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Ann's Cemetery. The Cumberland Evening Times, May 10, 1962

Miss Annie Weimer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ozias Weimer, and Thomas J. McKenzie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Zacharias McKenzie, were married on Wednesday, June 10, at St. Ann's Church, Avilton, Md., at 9 a. m., with a high mass, Father Gabriel, pastor of the church, performing the ceremony. At 12 noon a wedding dinner was
served at the home of the groom's parents to a large number of guests. Mrs. Samuel Ormer Bernard Loraditch and Miss Evelyn Weimer were bridesmaids, and Grant M. McKenzie, best man.
