- Daughter of Michael Aaron McKenzie and Loretta McKenzie. She married Alfred A. Carrather in Sturgis, St. Joseph Co., Michigan, on 10 November 1919. They had two sons, Bernard A. Carrather and Richard McKenzie Carrather. Her surname is given as "Carrther" in the Cemeteries of Lagrange County, Indiana book (by Current and Current).

Josephine McKenzie was born 6 Dec 1898 in Orland, Steuben County, OH and died 30 Apr 1940 in Coldwater, Branch County, MI. She is buried in Brighton Chapel Cemetery, Brighton, Lagrange County, IN. She married Anthony A. Carrather 10 Nov 1919 in Sturgis, St. Joseph County, MI. Anthony A. Carrather was born 13 Jun 1897 in Italy and died Apr 1964 in Michigan. Josephine and Anthony divorced sometime before 1927. They had two sons, Bernard A. Carrather (1921-1944) and Richard McKenzie Carrather (1923-1988). Josephine was originally named Johanna (Jo Hannah is the name that appears on her tombstone), but at some point she began to go by the name Josephine; I’ve been told that this was a tribute to her grandfather Joseph Christian McKenzie.
