FINZEL - P. Wayne “Bull” McKenzie, 53, of Finzel, died Thursday, Feb., 6, 1992 at Aspinwall V.A. Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. Born Dec. 9, 1938 in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Anthony and Verna (Raley) McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie worked for Kaiser Refractories and was president of United Steel Workers of America Union Local 4424, a member of Teamsters 453, a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and a Navy veteran. He was a promoter of bluegrass festivals. Mr. McKenzie and his wife owned and operated Mason-Dixon Campgrounds and were in the process of opening a new campground in Bluegrass Park. Survivors include his wife, Karen (Myers) McKenzie; two daughters, Krista Talley, Cumberland, and Bambi Baer, Finzel; four sisters, Mary Fike and Beverly Purbaugh, both of Finzel; Regina Buckalew, Frostburg; and Sally Scott, Vale Summit; two brothers, Richard McKenzie, Grantsville, and David McKenzie, Midlothian; and one grandson, Justin Lee Baer. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, Saturday and Sunday. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Msgr. John L. Reinsfelder officiating. Interment will be in the Finzel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Raley, Stanley Raley, John McKenzie Jr., James Raley, Eugene McKenzie, and Douglas Baer. Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Athey, Willard Blocher, Melvin Lafferty, William Uphole , William McKenzie, Norman Zack, Robert Brode, Eugene Morrell, Ray Warner, and Dick Yoder.
