- FROSTBURG — Evelyn Mary Shriver, 88, formerly of 72 Meshach Frost Village, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born April 11, 1913, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Minnick) McKenzie. Her husband, Charles C. Shriver and one son, Darrell “Butch" Shriver also preceded her in death. Mrs. Shriver was a homemaker, and she was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian. Surviving are two daughters, Janice Wilhelm and husband Floyd, Finzel, Judy Hughes and husband Jack, Frostburg; four sons, Walter “Junior" Shriver and wife Virginia, Frostburg, James C. Shriver and wife Marian, Baltimore, Donald Shriver and wife Marion, Borden, and John Shriver and wife Donna, Wrights Crossing. One brother, Francis “Dick" McKenzie, Finzel, and one sister, Thelma Raley, Frostburg; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Trinity Assembly of God Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jimmie Blair and the Rev. George Lear officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeff Hughes, Ronnie Shriver, Ricky Shriver, Dean Shriver, Chris Shriver and Donnie Shriver Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hughes Jr., Michael Shriver and Michael Hampe. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Red Cross, 100 Cumberland St., Cumberland MD 21502, in memory of Rose Liable who was a former public health nurse.
