- Myrtle MCKENZIE (Charles Oscar-4, Urias-3, Ambrose G.-2, John M.-1) was born on 6 Jul 1928 in Avilton, Garrett Co., Maryland. She died on 4 Apr 2011 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland. MOUNT Savage — Myrtle A. Bridges, 82, of Mount Savage, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born July 6, 1928, in Avilton, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Bessie McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronald V. Bridges Sr.; and an infant son, Patrick Garltiz(sic) in 1946. Mrs. Bridges was a former member of Mason Dixon Lions Club, Mount Savage Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer for American Cancer Society. Myrtle’s favorite hobby was bingo. She loved to play cards, crochet and needle point. She enjoyed crafts and working in her daughter Barbara’s flower shop. Myrtle loved to feed birds and enjoyed being outdoors. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Surviving are her five daughters, Barbara Taylor and husband Ronald, Bowie, Sharon Blank and husband Carl Sr., Frostburg, Gloria Jean Bridges and husband Freeman, Hyndman, Donna Jenkins and husband Cliff, Hyndman, Brenda Bloss and husband Dave, Mount Savage; one son, Ronald V. Bridges Jr. and wife Cindy, Mount Savage; daughter, Mariann Greene and husband Ed, Florida; daughter, Darlene Rae and husband Jim, Frostburg; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jonas McKenzie, Florida. Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Mount Savage, on Friday at 10 a.m. with Father Eric Gauchat, O.F.M., Cap., as celebrant. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. A special thanks to Fred and Charlotte Murphy and Rick Hamilton for all their love and support. Pallbearers will be Jared Bridges, Josh Bridges, Eric Jenkins, Terry Jenkins, Eric Clark Sr., Eric Clark Jr., Dean Thomas and Carl Blank Jr. Cumberland Times-News, April 7, 2011
