- Meyersdale, Pa., Dec. 9 - Services will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p. m., at the White Oaks Evangelical and Reformed Church for John McKenzie, 75, a retired merchant of Greenville Township, who died Thursday night at his home after an illness of three months. The Rev. J. E. Gindlesperger will officiate and internment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. McKenzie was a native of Greenville Township, the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Emerick) McKenzie. Surviving are three children, Edward McKenzie, this place; Mrs. David Wilhelm and Mrs. Eleanor Steinly, both of Meyersdale; a brother, William McKenzie, Frostburg; a half-brother, James Baker, Meyersdale; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. John McKenzie, aged merchant of McKenzie Hollow, Greenville Twp., on Route 3, Meyersdale, died of cerebral embolism and chronic myocarditis, at 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, December 7th, at his home. Mr. McKenzie suffered a stroke about three months ago, and has been bedfast ever since, and on Thursday morning, he was again stricken, and failed to rally from the second attack. He was born in Greenville Twp., on August 23, 1869, a son of William and Elizabeth (Emerick) McKenzie, and was aged 75 years, 3 months and 14 days. His wife preceded him in death in 1941, three of his children have also passed away. Surviving him are two daughters and one son - Mrs. Daisy Wilhelm, Meyersdale; Elnora, wife of Ralph Steinley, and Edward, both of Greenville Twp. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and a brother, William McKenzie, Route 2, Frostburg, Md., and a half-brother, James Baker, Greenville Township. Mr. McKenzie was a fine, upright citizen, well known and liked by all who knew him. He was a member of the Order of Owls at Deal and of the White Oak Reformed Church. His funeral at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, December 10, was well attended. Services were conducted in the White Oak Reformed Church, with Rev. J. E. Gindlesperger officiating.
