St. Michael's was established in 1852. MSA M 3743 (1852-1910). Mrs. Elizabeth McKenzie Garlitz, 89, widow of I. F. Garlitz, died at the home of a son, Orville Garlitz, Avilton, this morning. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Avilton. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. George Winner, Mrs. John McGowan, both of Midland; Mrs. Lillie Newman, Everett, Wash.; Clarence and Wilford, both of Avilton. The Cumberland Evening Times, February 27, 1943 Avilton, Md., March 2 — Requiem mass for Mrs. Elizabeth Garlitz, 89, widow of Isadore Garlitz, who died Saturday morning, was celebrated at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Avilton, yesterday by the pastor assisted by the Rev. Father Miller, who sang mass and the Rev. Father Alban, who delivered the sermon. The pastor conducted the interment at St. Ann's Cemetery, Avilton. Surviving are four sons, three daughters, 43 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. The Cumberland Evening Times, March 2, 1943 Mrs. Elizabeth Garlitz, 89, widow of Isadore Garlitz, died Saturday morning at her home in Avilton, Md. Funeral mass was conducted Monday, March 1, at St. Ann's Church, Avilton. Funeral mass was conducted yesterday at St. Ann's church at Avilton, with the pastor as celebrant and Father Miller as assistant. Father Albany delivered the sermon. The interment was in St. Ann's cemetery, Avilton. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John McGowan and Mrs. George Winner, Midland; Mrs. John Newman, Everett, Washington; Clarence, Arvil, and Wilford of Avilton.
