McKenzie, Margaret Elizabeth, born Feb.4, 1910, was a grad of Good Samaritan School of Nursing, received
her BS in Nursing at the College of Mount Saint Joseph with a Masters in Nursing Administration from Catholic University, Washington, D. C. Margaret joined the US Army Air Force in 1943 and in 1944 received two battle stars for outstanding service in the Battles of Rheinland and Central Europe. Major McKenzie served on the Inspector General's Team as the only lady to inspect military hospitals around the world. Margaret retired with the rank Lt. Col. in 1962 from the US Air Force. She worked for 11 years as an educational coordinator at Mount Carmel Hospital,
Columbus. In 1973 she moved to Fairborn, Ohio, to be near Wright Patterson AFB to receive her cancer treatments. Margaret died of cancer on Dec. 4, 1986, with burial at Saint Joseph Cemetery.
