The information supplied for this branch of the McKenzie Family Tree came from Mary Kitzerow, Oregon City, Oregon. She wrote to the author in March, 2018 and said that she had met Margaret Ellen Ward McKenzie (b. 1856) in 1946, along with the children of Margaret Ellen: Leo Michael, Katherine and Ruth.
Mary also advised that Leo Michael Sr. McKenzie developed dementia and was hospitalized when both the 1910 nd 1920 censuses were taken. In 1910, Leo Sr. was in Tenant State Hospital, Ward 8 in Dayton, Ohio. In 1920 he was in Dayton State Insane Hospital.

McKenzie, Samuel, born Feb. 16, 1825, baptized May 20, 1825, at Saint Patrick Church, Cumberland, Maryland, by Father T. Ryan. His godparents were Moses and Mary McKenzie. On Feb. 1, 1846, he married Margaret McKenzie at Saint Thomas Church, Zanesville, Ohio, witnesses were John McKenzie and Mary Durbin. Margaret, born June 28, 1826, was the daughter of Caleb and Margaret(Magers) McKenzie of Danville. Samuel died Jan. 9, 1896, and Margaret, April 4, 1903, both buried at Saint Joseph Cem., Circleville, Ohio. Her obituary states "she fell three weeks before her death and fractured her hip, but died from a stroke of apoplexy." The "Pickaway County History" of 1906, page 634, states that, "From the age of 16 years (1831), until Samuel's death at the age of 71, he resided in Ohio... He was one of the highly esteemed men of this section, honest, industrious and useful to his community. Both he and his wife were members of the Catholic Church..." "Samuel McKenzie, prior to coming to Pickaway County, resided in Ross County, Ohio, removing thence early in the 1850's to Wayne Township, Pickaway County. In 1875 he settled on the farm where his son, Frank, resides. "Their happy wedded life covered a period of almost 50
years and Mr. McKenzie's death interrupted plans for the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary, which would have taken place two weeks later." "They had eight children born to them, of whom three are living, namely, Leo, Mary and Frank." The order of birth of their descendants is Theresa J. Harkins, Leo, Mary E., Martha R., John C, Margaret S., Agnes and Francis. Four of the children, Martha, John, Margaret and Agnes all died between July 1857 and August 1858. In the June 1860 Census, Theresa, Leo, Mary and Samuel attended school.
