- Mr. Jesse C. Gassman and Miss Edna Anna McKenzie were married last night at the home of the bride in Hagerstown. The bride is a member of the McKenzie family at Rawlings and formerly lived in this city, where she was employed as a stenographer. Mr. Gassman is agent for the United States Express Co., this city. After a wedding journey, which will include a visit to Chicago and other western cities, the newly-wed couple will return to this city where they will reside. Per the recollections of Edna McKenzie in a letter to Col. G.T. MacKenzie (Ret.) written in 1962 when she was 75 years old, she recalls that James Moses McKenzie was a slaveowner and that the slaves made the bricks that were used in the construction of his house.
