- FROSTBURG - Mrs. Bessie E. McKenzie, 69, Borden Shaft, died yesterday in Miner's Hospital, where she had been admitted April 1. She had been in failing health several months. Born in Borden Shaft, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Cook) Munsie. Her husband, William McKenzie, died in 1941. She was a member of Shaft Methodist Church, where she had been treasurer 30 years. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Burkholder, Girard, Ohio, and Mrs. Marian Brown, Shaft; three sons, John W. McKenzie, Beaver, Pa.; Harvey McKenzie, Frostburg, and Franklin McKenzie, New Brighton, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Clarence Powers, Frostburg; one brother, Allen Munsie, Detroit; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home, where friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. A service will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. F. Blaine Rinker, pastor of the Shaft United Methodist Church, in charge. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joseph Layman, Charles Stevanus, William Watson, Francis Philpot, Clifton Sweitzer and Philip Brode.
