- FROSTBURG — Mrs. Laura (McKenzie) Kerr, 64, wife of John Kerr, died this morning at her residence in Shaft. She was a member of Shaft Methodist Church. Besides her husband, Mrs. Kerr leaves a son, John Kerr, Jr., Hagerstown; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Cunningham, Lord, and Mrs. Charles Harvey, Shaft; two brothers, Elijah McKenzie, Midland, and Ernest McKenzie, Shaft; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body is at the Hafer Funeral Home. Cumberland Evening Times, March 27, 1951
FROSTBURG — Services for Mrs. Laura (McKenzie) Kerr, 64, wife of John Kerr, Shaft, who died yesterday, will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p. m. from the Hafer Funeral Home here by Rev. Louis L. Emerick, Midland. Burial will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Cumberland Evening Times, March 28, 1951
Note from John (Punk) Mckenie "Laura's Granddaughter Joann K. Thacker states that Laura was the person who was holding John W. Mckenzie, when he fell from her lap into the kettle of boiling liquid and died. Laura died from a second heart attack while attempting to bring hay for the cattle."
