- Wolfe-McKenzie – Charles Hiram Wolfe, son of Hiram B. Wolfe, meat dealer, 394 North Centre Street, and Miss Edna McKenzie of near narrows park went to the parsonage of the Centre Street M.E. Street at 9:00 Tuesday night and were married by the Rev. Joseph Dawson. The young couple were to have been married yesterday evening and a big reception had been prepared by their friends, but they were greatly surprised to learn the ceremony had been performed a day in advance. Mrs. Mary Edna Wolfe, 83, of 1304 Holland Street, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital, shortly after being admitted. She had been in ill health the past several years. Born in LaVale, she was a daughter of the late Charles J. and Ardella (Long) MacKenzie and was the widow of Charles H. Wolfe who died in 1963. Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe were owners of Wolfe's Wholesale-Retail Meat Market on North Mechanic Street. She was a member of Centre Street United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Jane Wolfe, at home, and Mrs. Mary Manuel, Fairfield, Cal.; a son, Warren M. Wolfe, St. Louis, Mo., and six grandchildren. The body is at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence, where friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. Private services will be held there Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. John F. Sammel officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park. Pallbearers will be John M. Emerick, John E. Emerick, John Mertens, Calvin Jones, James Bishop, Dr. E. Vernon Kroll and Ellsworth Smith. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Centre Street United Methodist Church, or to Father Flanagan's Boys Town.
