- Michael Edenhart was struck by a "helper" when he was crossing the tracks at the Ridgely, West Virginia train station. He was attempting to cross the tracks and avoid a passenger trian when he was struck by the "helper" equipment. His lower extremities were crushed and nothing was able to be done to save him.
According to a newspaper article on the front page of the The Evening Times, December16, 1907 edition, he was in his 78th year of life and had been born in Germany.
He was referred to as "one of the oldest and most respected" German citizens in the area.
He was survived by the following children: Stella Lippencott of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Lizzie Manlove, Cumberland, Mr. John Edenhart, Miss Belle Edenhart and Messrs. Frank and Charle Edenhart all of Ridgely, West Virginia.
Beside the children named, he was survived by a sister, Mrs. John Carrheim, of Carlton, Pennsylvania and 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
