"Life is a balance between holding on and letting go." On Monday we let go - My sister was the most loving, compassionate, caring sister, daughter, mother, wife, friend and doctor I have ever been fortunate enough to know. In her honor, I ask each of you to be kind - perform random acts of kindness - for those you do and don't know and those who may not be the nicest people (they need it the most). When being kind to others, think of Joy and remember what a courageous, loving soul she was . . ." (Cathie) Joy requested that everyone who attends her funeral come dressed in their finest sports attire. Bonus points for those in Columbia Blue. (Yes Keyser fans... that's her final "GOTCHA" to you! She said to tell you she'd be watching!) Haha! No fancy dresses, no ties, and no tears. What a wonderful, positive, happy life we have to celebrate. Let's not let her down. 9544 Simon WEIMER and Loretta MCKENZIE were married. Loretta MCKENZIE (daughter of Leo MCKENZIE and Johanna (Ann) GARLITZ) was born on 26 Oct 1867. She died on 1 Mar 1939. Records actually have Loretta not as the daughter of Johanna Garlitz and Leo McKenzie but as their granddaughter. She was the daughter of their daughter Mary Magdalene and of an unidentified Israel Garlitz. [However, dates do not exactly match the Mary as recorded under Johanna Garlitz McKenzie given on this site, they are off by two years.] It is said that Loretta was a child born out of wedlock to Mary Magdalene and this Israel Garlitz. She was raised by Johanna and Leo as their own daughter. Thus Loretta was Loretta McKenzie (Garlitz) marrying Simon Weimer. It is said that Mary Magdalene later moved to Colorado to live with daughter Loretta and son in-law Simon Weimer.) Notes from Thomas Garlitz site McKenzie, Loretta (I01654)

9546 Singular Deaths With Many Coincidences in Life and Death

Henry Garlitz and Morgan Robinson died about ten days ago on Pea Ridge in Garrett county. They lived on adjoining farms for most of their lives and their dual deaths came within an hour of each other. Their ages were the same, verging on 80 years; always near neighbors, of the same politics (Democratic) and religion (Catholics) and buried in the same cemetery at St. Ann's church nearby. They were two good, honest, law-abiding citizens. No one ever had just cause to complain of either of them. Their places in usefulness can not soon be filled. Both left children and grandchildren. Robinson left a widow, but the wife of Garlitz died some years ago. He was the last son of Christian Garlitz, who died in 1868. They were both of old Allegany county stock with large family ramifications. Cumberland, March 9 ~ J.B." The Republican (Oakland, MD), March 12, 1903
