KEYSER, W.Va. — Mary (McKenzie) Lechliter, 84, of Keyser, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at Stonerise Keyser. Born Oct. 17, 1936, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Lena Catherine (Dawson) McKenzie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Paul Lechliter; brothers, Kenneth McKenzie, Edward McKenzie, Thomas McKenzie, Ronald McKenzie; sisters-in-law, Lois McKenzie, Betty McKenzie, Catherine 'Kitty' McKenzie; daughter-in -law, Lillian Yvonne Lechliter. Mrs. Lechliter was Catholic by faith. Her passions in life were gardening and spending time with her family. Mrs. Lechliter was always there to lend an ear to friends and family. She loved to make people laugh with her fantastic sense of humor. She also enjoyed playing cards and the board game Trouble. Surviving are four children, Sherry Kay Brode and husband, Jeff, LaVale, Joseph Allen Lechliter, Moorefield, Brenda Reni Heinrich and companion, John, Cumberland, and Janet Louise Lepley and husband, Jerry, Cumberland; brothers, Michael McKenzie and wife, Sharon, Keyser, Donald McKenzie and wife, Maxine, Keyser; sister, Carlon McDowell and husband, Timothy, Cresaptown; sister-in-law, Aggie McKenzie; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-greatgrandchild; and special companion of 16 years, Pat Benedetto, Keyser. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy., SW, Cresaptown, on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. CRESAPTOWN - Thomas E. McKenzie, 78, Cresaptown, died Tuesday, June 27, 1989, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Feb. 4, 1911, in Cresaptown, he was the son of the late Albert and Alice (Roberson) McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena C. (Dawson) McKenzie, April 9, 1981. Mr. McKenzie was a retired custodian for the Celanese Fiber Corporation’s Amcelle Plant and a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Surviving are six sons, Edward W. McKenzie, Bowman’s Addition; Thomas L. McKenzie, Rawlings; Ronald E. McKenzie and Kenneth L. McKenzie, both of Cumberland; and Joseph M. McKenzie and Donald W. McKenzie, both of Keyser, W.Va.; two daughters, Mary Lechliter, Cumberland; and Kitten McDowell, Potomac Park; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Lease and Theresa McKenzie, both of Cresaptown; and Margaret Clayton, Riverdale; one brother, Clarence McKenzie, Cresaptown; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church by the Rev. DeSales Young. Albert McKenzie, 64, a life-long resident of Cresaptown, died yesterday at Allegany Hospital. Besides his widow, who was Alice Robison, he is survived by ten children: Anna, Samuel, Thomas, Helen, John, Margaret, Nellie, William, Clarence and Eva Theresa McKenzie. Mrs. Alice M. Clayton, 87, of Winchester Road, Cresaptown, died today in Sacred Heart Hospital. A native of Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Joshua and Mary Alice (Sinnett) Robison. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert J. McKenzie. and her second husband, Brooks H. Clayton. Mrs. Clayton was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Samuel Lease, Cresaptown: Mrs. Thornton Lease, Cresaptown; Mrs. George Clayton, Riverdale, and Theresa McKenzie, at home; three sons, Thomas E. Kenzie, Clarence M. Mckenzie and William G. McKenzie, of Cresaptown; one sister, Mrs. Thomas Kaylor, Paw Paw, W.Va.; 31 grandchildren, 43 great-grandehildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are a number of nieces nephews. The body is at the George Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p. m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m.
