    SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Robert Vincent “Bob” Miltenberger, 76, of Short Gap, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016, Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Born in Cumberland, on Dec. 8, 1939, he was the son of the late Margaret Elizabeth (McKenzie) and Vincent DePaul Miltenberger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis P. Miltenberger; and granddaughter, Sydney Miltenberger. Bob was a graduate of LaSalle High School, class of 1957. Following high school, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy. An electrician by trade, Bob was employed until his retirement by the CSXT Company. He had been employed by the railroad for 27 years. Bob was a member of the Annunciation of Our Lord Catholic Church in Fort Ashby, he was a member of the Short Gap, Lion’s Club, where he was serving as the organizations current president. Bob had been a member of the club for 44 years, this year was his third term as president of the group. He was also a member of the Fort Ashby Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Chief Justice Taney 4th Degree. Bob enjoyed gardening, and he shared his produce with his neighbors and the local food pantry. Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Ellen (Dayton) Miltenberger; son, Joel E. Miltenberger and wife, Katherine, Bridgeport; grandchildren, Sami Jo Miltenberger, Holly B. Miltenberger, and Hailey B. Miltenberger; great-grandchildren, Makenzi and Bradley Nutter; sister, Patricia Ann Proud and husband, Jerry, LaVale; sister-in-law, Joan Sharpless and husband, Thomas, Short Gap. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Sunday, March 6, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will participate in a Christian Wake service, conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 4 p.m. The members of the Short Gap Lion's Club will hold their memorial service in the funeral home on Sunday at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Annunciation of Our Lord Catholic Church, Fort Ashby, on Monday, March 7, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Mike Lecias as celebrant. Burial will take place in Fort Ashby Cemetery.     SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Barbara Ellen Miltenberger, 83, of Short Gap, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at UPMCWestern Maryland. Born on March 7, 1938, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Mary (Broome) Dayton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert V. Miltenberger; her son, Dennis P. Miltenberger; granddaughter, Sydney L. Miltenberger; and brother-in-law, Thomas Sharpless. Barbara was valedictorian of the 1955 class of Fort Ashby High School, and was a graduate of Catherman's Business School. Barbara was a member of the Short Gap Lion's Club, and a member of the Annunciation of Our Lord Church, Fort Ashby. She loved to plant and tend to her flowers, and spend time watching birds. Barbara was famous for sending out greeting cards for any and all occasions. She is survived by her son, Joel Miltenberger and wife, Katherine; sister, Joan Sharpless; three granddaughters, Sami Nutter and husband, Corey, Holly Miltenberger and partner, Shane Novak, and Hailey Drummond and husband, Austin; great-grandchildren, Makenzi and Bradley Nutter, and Sydney Rose Drummond; sister-inlaw, Patricia Proud and husband, Jerry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and residents at the Commons at Cumberland ALF for the great care and friendship they provided to Barbara for the last few years. Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy., Cresaptown, on Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Annunciation of Our Lord Church, 8819 Frankfort Highway, Fort Ashby, on Friday, May 28, 2021, at 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service.     LAVALE — Margaret E. Miltenberger, 83, of LaVale, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1996 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Feb. 13, 1913 in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Milnor and Frances (Maloney) McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent D. Miltenberger in 1977 and a grandson, Dennis Miltenberger in 1984. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Miltenberger was a homemaker. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church; Secular Order of Franciscan; member of the Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild of the church; member of the Ursuline Associates and a member of the LaVale Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving are one daughter, Patricia A. Proud and husband Jerry of LaVale; one son, Robert V. Miltenberger and wife Barbara of Short Gap, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Robin Cosner and husband Bryan of Frostburg, Brenda M. Cox and husband Donald of New Oxford, Pa., Jeffery S. Proud and wife Tracy of Rawlings, and Joel Edward Miltenberger and wife Katherine of Bridgeport, W.Va.; four great-grandchildren, Shauna Lynn Proud, Brittany Rae Cosner, Dakota James Proud and Sami Jo Miltenberger.
