    FROSTBURG — James K. "Mac" McKenzie Jr, 77, passed away on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. Born on July 29, 1941, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late James K. (Mac), Sr, and Marilyn (Evans) McKenzie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, John Mark McKenzie and great granddaughter, Lamarah Mae Jones. Mac retired as a remote control engineer at CSX Railroad. He was a member of Welsh Baptist Church, Piney Mountain Sportsmans Club and the Mountain Top Sportsmans Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman having made many trips to Colorado and Maine. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Earlene M. (McDonald) McKenzie; daughters, Peggy Crowe and husband, Dennis, Brenda McKenzie and significant other, Francisco Rodriguez; son, James K. "Jimmy" McKenzie III; grandchildren, Dennis Crowe Jr, and wife, Nichola, Thomas Crowe and wife, Nicole, Christy Metts, Naomi Riggleman, Jeramiah Riggleman and fiancé, Megan, Jadyn McKenzie and Evan McKenzie; sisters, Maureen Pugh and husband, Norman, and Darlene Yates; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins; and hunting and fishing buddies, Wayne, Ray, Brian, Herb, Robin, Merm and Johnny. Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at

    GRAHAMTOWN - James K. (Mac) McKenzie Sr., 71, of 17 Powells Lane, Grahamtown, died Thursday Jan. 14, 1993, at Meyersdale (Pa.) Manor Nursing Home. Born in Grantsville, he was the son of the late James H. and Jeanetta (Painter) McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was preceded in death by one grandson, Kenneth Allen Dye. He was retired from the CSX Corp. as an engineer and was a member of the Welsh Memorial Baptist Church. He was a veteran and member of the American Legion Farrady Post #24, Moose Lodge #348 and the Flagles #1273. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Evans) McKenzie; two sons, James K. McKenzie Jr. and wife Earlene, Grahamtown; and John Mark McKenzie and his wife Liz, Frostburg; two daughters, Maureen Pugh and her husband Norman, St. Cloud, Fla.; and Darlene Yates, Lawrence, Kan.; two brothers, Glenn McKenzie, Frostburg; and Edgar McKenzie, Lonaconing; six sisters, Freda, Agnes, Beulah, Jeanetta, Imogene and Joy; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. William G. Royer officiating. Interment will he in Frostburg Memorial Park.

    James Harris McKenzie, 85, Frostburg, died last night in Miners Hospital where he was admitted last week after being struck by an automobile. McKenzie was seriously injured last Tuesday afternoon when he was struck by a car operated by Francis H. Lutz, Baltimore. The accident occurred along U.S. Route 40, about one mile west of Frostburg. State Police, who investigated, said Mr. McKenzie resided in the area of the accident and was crossing the highway when he was struck. Police said McKenzie apparently failed to see the Lutz car and walked into the path of the vehicle. He sustained a compound fracture of the right leg, fractured shoulder and multiple lacerations of his face and forehead. Mr. McKenzie was the son of the late John and Sarah (Christner) McKenzie. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jeanette (Painter) McKenzie; nine daughters, Mrs. Robert Wiley, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. John McKenzie, Akron; Mrs. Harold Wampler, Manassas, Va.; Mrs. William Beechie, Vale Summit; Mrs. Evelyn Leary, Baltimore; Mrs. Beulah McKenzie, Akron; Mrs. Charles Yoder, Glen Burnie; Mrs. Warren Snyder, Pittsburgh; and Mrs. Joy Perkins, Midland; five sons, Lawrence, James, Frank and Edgar McKenzie, all of Frostburg, and Glen McKenzie, Eckhart. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Emma Younkin, Washington; Mrs. Elizabeth Baker, Frostburg, and Mrs. Eulah Robison, Eckhart; two brothers, Jacob McKenzie, Frostburg, and Joseph McKenzie, Avilton; 49 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg after 7 p.m. today.
