    Notes:

    The granddaughter of several Frostburg residents died early Monday of injuries sustained in a pedestrian accident near Richmond, Va. Cher Michelle DeVore, 19, of Richmond, died at 6:05 a.m. Monday at the Medical College of Virginia where she was admitted Sunday night. The accident occurred at 5:45 p.m. Sunday on Route 250, nearly a mile west of Route 632 in Goochland County. Miss DeVore, a pedestrian, was struck by the 1979 Dodge Polara driven by George A. Plummer Jr. Virginia State Police at Richmond explained Miss DeVore was walking eastbound on Route 250 in the westbound lane and was talking to the driver of a 1983 Saab which was moving slowly in the eastbound lane. Plummer was also eastbound and passing the Saab when Miss DeVore stepped into the side of the Dodge and was struck, police said. Trooper G.L. Williams investigated. Miss DeVore was born on Sept. 15, 1966 and was the daughter of Gary A. and Carol I. DeVore, both of Richmond. Also surviving are her maternal grandparents, Ernest and Helen Bingaman, Frostburg; and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William DeVore, Frostburg. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richmond. Interment will be private. Cumberland Evening Times, Tuesday, October 15, 1985

    TOGETHER AGAIN FROSTBURG — William “Bill” Victor Devore, 87, died on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at the Frostburg Village Nursing and Rehab. Born on June 10, 1924, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Victor DeVore and Olive (Plummer) DeVore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years in 2006, Lillian (Miller) DeVore; brother, Harry Lee DeVore and granddaughter, Cher Michelle DeVore. Mr. DeVore was a veteran serving in the US Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Frostburg, a member of the American Farrady Post 24 in Frostburg, a member of VFW Old Rail Post 6025 and the Masonic Lodge 99. Bill is survived by one son, Gary DeVore, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one brother, Roy DeVore and wife Mary, of Frostburg; sister-in-law Eleanor (DeVore) Cannon, of Cumberland and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Hafer Frost Mansion, 58 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. with the Pastor Jennifer Webber officiating. Military honors being accorded by Post 13 Honor Guard of Cumberland. Interment will be at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap in Flintstone.     FROSTBURG - Victor DeVore, 84, of 125 Walnut Street, Grahamtown, died Tuesday at the Cumberland Nursing Center following a long illness. Born in Frostburg on July 3, 1902, he was the son of the late Johnson and Arella (Crowe) DeVore. Mr. DeVore was retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company as a curing room operator with 44 years of service. He was a member of Frostburg United Methodist Church and United Rubber Workers Local 26. Surviving are his widow, Olive M. (Plummer) DeVore; three sons, Harry L. DeVore, Cumberland; William V. DeVore and Roy M. DeVore, both of Frostburg; one brother, Leonard DeVore, Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Emery Plummer and Mrs. Ernest Plummer, both of Frostburg; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Hafer Frost Mansion Funeral Home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted there Thursday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Kenneth M. Humbert and the Rev. John Bayley Jones. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be Roy V. DeVore, William J. DeVore, David A. DeVore, Robert S.
