FINZEL — Harold L. Crowe, 87, of Finzel, died on Friday, March 20, 2009, in Garrett County. Born Sept. 20, 1921, in Finzel, he was the son of the late Roy E. Crowe and Clara (Wolfe) Crowe. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Lillian D. (Baker) Crowe; a son, Wayne L. Crowe Sr.; six brothers and one sister. Mr. Crowe was a retired Rural Route Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Emmanuel United Meth-odist Church. Surviving are two sons, Donald E. Crowe and wife Shirley, of Kent Island, and Dennis L. Crowe Sr. and wife Peggy, of Finzel; two daughters, Linda S. Messmer, of Glen Burnie, and Delores Sullivan and husband Andy, of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; one daughter-in-law, Glenda Crowe, of Frostburg; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Crowe, of Finzel, Hubert Crowe, of Finzel, and Archie Crowe, of Keyser, W.Va.; one sister, Ruth Stanton, of Grantsville, and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service for family and friends will be held in the Emmanuel United Methodist Cemetery on Tuesday, March 24, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. Military honors will be accorded by members of Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Building Fund of the Emmanuel United Meth-odist Church, C/O Robert Klink, 1908 Finzel Road, Frostburg, MD 21532.

FINZEL — Lillian D. Crowe, 76, of Finzel, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at her residence. Born Dec. 2, 1929, in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Edward G. Baker and Velma (Wagner) Baker. Lillian was also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Arnold and June Fissell; and a sadly missed son, Wayne L. Crowe Sr. Lillian was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She graduated from Grantsville High School in 1947. She was an active member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church all her life and a member of the United Methodist Women. Lillian was active in the Northern Garrett Republican Club, volunteered for the American Heart Assoc., and was a past member of the Eastern Garrett Ladies Auxiliary She was very active in her community, but her greatest attribute was the love and care she provided to her family. Lillian raised five children, three grandchildren, and helped greatly with six great-grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Harold L. Crowe; two sons, Donald E. Crowe and wife Shirley, Kent Island; and Dennis L. Crowe Sr. and wife Peggy, Finzel; two daughters, Linda S. Messmer, Glen Burnie; and Delores Sullivan and husband Andy, North Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Glenda Crowe, Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Dennis L. Crowe Jr. and wife Faith, Barton; Thomas W. Crowe and wife Nicole, Cresaptown; Christy D. Metts and husband Matt, Finzel; Nicole and Chelsea Messmer, Glen Burnie; Wayne L. Crowe Jr., Cumberland; and Kari Johnson and husband Ray, Frostburg; and e11 great-grandchildren. Lillian had an extra special relationship with six great-grandchildren, Haleigh, Kloey, Emily, Noah, Gracie and Audrey Metts. They will miss her dearly. She is also survived by Carl Baker, Finzel, Edward A Baker, Ohio, Everett Baker and wife Eleanor, S. Carolina, Janice Wilhelm, Ohio, and a brother-in-law, Owen Arnold, Pocahontas, Pa. Friends will be received at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 29 Pocahontas Road, west of Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. Interment will be in the Emmanuel Methodist Cemetery, Route 40 West. Pallbearers will be Donald Crowe, Andy Sullivan, Matthew Metts, Dennis Crowe Jr., Thomas Crowe and Wayne Crowe Jr. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Garrett County, Inc., PO Box 371, Oakland, MD 21550. We greatly appreciate their services. Donors may also be contribute to their favorite charity in memory of Lillian. The Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, is handling the arrangements.

Raymond Crowe, Baltimore; Rev. Frederick Crowe, Kalispell, Mont.; Rev. Carl Crowe, Rockbridge Baths, Va.; Willard, Frank, Harold and Hubert Crowe, all of Finzel; Archie Crowe, Keyser, W. Va.; Delford Crowe, Grantsville; and Woodrow Crowe, Waynesboro, Pa.; two brothers, Lee Crowe, Arlington, Va., and Denzel Crowe, Baltimore; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Durst, National Highway; 36 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to the Johnson Emmanuel Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Born in Finzel, she was a daughter of the late Claymore and Lucretia (Arnold) Wolfe. Her husband, Roy E. Crowe, died in 1960. She was a member of Johnson Emmanuel Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hilda Ellifritz, Cresaptown, and Mrs. Ruth Stanton, Grantsville; nine sons, Rev. Raymond Crowe, Glen Burnie; Rev. Frederick Crowe, Chateau, Mont.; Rev. Karl Crowe, Martinsville, Va.; Archie Crowe, Keyser; Delford Crowe, Grantsville; and Willard, Frank, Harold and Hubert Crowe, Finzel; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Crowe, Finzel; two brothers, Archie Wolfe, Finzel, and Charles Wolfe, Frostburg; 40 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
