Eugene G. Bolden, 75, LaVale, Md., died Sept. 3, 1995 at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. Born Dec. 16, 1919 in Dunbar, W. Va., son of the late John A. and Marjorie (Gill) Bolden. Also preceded by three brothers: Jack, Richard and Kenneth. Survivors include his wife, Mary (Baer) Bolden; one son, David Bolden, Fredericksburg, Va.; one daughter, Elizabeth Fischer and husband, James Huntington, W. Va.; one sister, Mrs. Vincent (Marjorie) Jacob, Somerset, and two grandchildren, Robert Fischer and Stephanie Fischer, Huntington, W. Va. Retired printer from the Cumberland Times News. Member of LaVale Lions Club for 18 years. Named Lion of the Year in 1993. Member of LaVale United Methodist Church. Volunteer member of Meals on Wheels. HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Mary Elizabeth Bolden, 82, formerly of LaVale, Md., and recently of Huntington, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2011, at the Hospice of Huntington. Born on July 17, 1928, in Meyersdale, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William Baer and Mary E. Cozzins Baer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene G. Bolden. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Cogan and Martha Baer Fike; and brothers, Byron Baer, Harold Baer, “Cubby” Baer, James Baer and William Baer. She was the last surviving sibling. Mrs. Bolden worked as a lab technician at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland for 28 years. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was a member of the LaVale Lionettes. She was also a member of the LaVale United Methodist Church. Surviving are her son, David Eugene Bolden, Lignum, Va.; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Fischer and husband James of Huntington; granddaughter, Step-hanie Fischer; grandson, Robert Fischer and wife Natalie; and soon-to-be born great- grandson, Noah Fischer. Friends will be received at Hafer Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Wednesday, March 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Lawn Memorial Park. John Albert Bolden died suddenly, Tuesday, July 2, about noon, at his home on Salisbury Street, following a severe heart attack, the third he had. He became ill first at the Bolden Plumbing Shop on Saturday and had to be taken home. On Sunday he felt much better and was able to be out. Tuesday morning he suffered two more attacks at home, the second of which proved fatal. Mr. Bolden was born in Meyersdale, January 26, 1890, a son of Charles A. and Annie Hart Bolden. His father died a number of years ago. Albert learned the plumbing trade as a boy from his father and was an expert workman in every line of the trade. Except for a few years of residence in Charleston, W.Va., he worked for the Bolden Plumbing Co., which since the death of his father has been continued by his mother, with the assistance of her sons and other members of her family. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Gill Bolden; his mother; four sons, Eugene, Somerset; John Albert Jr., Richard and Kenneth, Meyersdale, and one daughter, Marjorie, at home, and one grandson. He also leaves eight sisters and brothers: Mrs. Marcella Stotler, Mrs. Walter Gress, Mrs. Mary Weyer, Mrs. Daniel Clapper, Mrs. Frank Thomas, Mrs. Elam Miller, Miss Anna Bolden, Edgar E. (Bill) Bolden and Frederick Bolden, all of Meyersdale. Funeral arrangements are in charge of R. Reich & Son. Services will be held at 9 o'clock Friday morning in SS. Mrs. Marjorie (Gill) Bolden, 67, city, formerly of Meyersdale, died Saturday at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born April 1, 1895, at Dunbar, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (Church) Gill. Her husband, John A. Bolden Sr., died in 1946. She was a member of SS. Philip and James Catholic Church and of the ladies guild of the church. Surviving are four sons, John A. Bolden Jr., Meyersdale; Eugene G. Bolden, LaVale; Richard O. Bolden, city, and Kenneth J. Bolden, Connellsville, Pa.; one daughter, Mrs. Vincent Jacob, Friedens, Pa.; two brothers, Stanley Gill, Charleston, W. Va., and William A. Gill, Alexandria, Va., and 13 grandchildren. The body is at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale. Requiem Mass will be celebrated in SS. Philip and James Church Wednesday at 10 a.m. by Rev. James S. Kirkpatrick.
