    Earl Opel, 64, of Long Stretch, who served two four-year terms as a Garrett County Commissioner, died March 15, 1984, at Fish Memorial Hospital, New Smyrna Beach Fla., while on a vacation trip in Florida. Born in Frostburg, Maryland, he was a son of the late Jacob Opel and Rose (Carey) Opel. He was the owner and operator of the Long Stretch Fruit Market. He was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of Grantsville Post 214, American Legion; a charter member of the Grantsville Lions Club, and a social member of the Eastern Garrett County Volunteer Fire Department. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Beatrice (Wilhelm) Opel; three sons, Dale Opel, David Opel and Bruce Opel, all of Star Route, Frostburg; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Finnell, Portland, Ore., and four grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where services were held by Pastor K. Almond. Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery, Star Route, Frostburg.     WED 25 YEARS — The family of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Opel, Star Route, Frostburg, honored them with a surprise party on their 25th Wedding anniversary at the Eastern Garrett County Community Building. The couple was married October 3, 1946 in First Methodist Church by Rev. Watson E. Holley. Their attendants were Miss Agnes Wilhelm and Norvel McKenzie. Mrs. Opel is the daughter of Julius Wilhelm and the late Mrs. Pearl Wilhelm. Her husband is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Opel. They are the parents of three sons, Dale, David and Bruce.     FROSTBURG - Beatrice Colleen Opel, 91, of Frostburg, and formerly of Longstretch, died Friday, April 05, 2019, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville. Born Nov. 14, 1927, in Garrett Co., she was the daughter of the late Julius and Pearl (Crowe) Wilhelm. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Edward Opel; one sister, Agnes Carey; one half-brother, Lester Hunter; one granddaughter, Candy Sue Opel; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Magruder. Beatrice and her husband, Earl, owned and operated The Long Stretch Market. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, a Church Board Member, and the Homemaker's Club. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Garrett Co. Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending her summer months in Garrett Co. and wintertime in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., where she volunteered many hours at the Fish Memorial Hospital Auxiliary's "Pink Door." She is survived by three sons, Dale (Rose) Opel, David (Dottie) Opel and Bruce Opel; six grandchildren, Jesse (Lisa) Opel, Lori (Jimmy) Magruder, David (Brandi) Opel, Brandon Opel, Jason Opel and Justin Opel; nine great-grandchildren, Emily and Alexis Opel, Madilynn and Molly Magruder, Tiffany, Devon and Drew Opel, Adalyn and Kyra Opel. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Naeem and the staff of The Goodwill Mennonite Home for the excellent care given to their mother. Friends will be received at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Sunday, April 7, 2019, from 1-3 p.m. Funeral services will follow in the church at 3 p.m.
    with the Rev. Dan Agnew officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, is in charge of arrangements.

    Grantsville - Mrs. Pearl L. Wilhelm, 53, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Carey, Star Route, Frostburg. She had been in ill health some time. Born at New Germany, she was a daughter of the late Stewart and Laverna (Duckworth) Crowe. She was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Julius Wilhelm, another daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Opel, Star Route, Frostburg; four brothers, Sam, Lee, Thomas, and Harvey Crowe, all of Lonaconing; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Garlitz, Star Route, Frostburg, and Mrs. Mary Wilhelm, RD 1, Lonaconing, and six grandchildren. Services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Methodist Church by Rev. Emory McGraw. Burial will be in Blocker Cemetery. The body is at the Newman Funeral Homeland will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow. The family requests that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of Mt.     Grantsville, Oct. 12 - Services were held this afternoon in New Germany Methodist church for Henry Stewart Crowe, 85, who died Tuesday evening at his home in Avilton after a long illness. The Rev. Charles Sisk officiated. Mr. Crowe was the last member of a family of nine children of Henry and Hariette (Durst) Crowe, early settlers in New Germany. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Mary Wilhelm and Mrs. Pearl Wilhelm, Avilton; and Mrs. Hazel Garlitz, Cumberland; and four sons, Harvey, who just returned from Germany; Samuel, Lee and Edgar, at home.     Mrs. Louvina (Duckworth) Crowe, aged 69 years, widow of the late Steward Crowe, died at her home at Avilton, Md., early Monday morning. She was the daughter of the late Israel and Mary (Wiland) Duckworth, and was born at New Germany, Md. Surviving are the following children: Samuel, Lee, Edgar and Harvey Crowe, Mrs. Leonard Wilhelm, and Mrs. Earl Garlitz, all of Avilton; Mrs. Julius Wilhelm, Long Stretch; also 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. William Logston, and one brother, Henry Duckworth of Lonaconing. The body was at the home of Mrs. Julius Wilhelm, Long Stretch, till the funeral services at the New Germany Methodist Church, Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 3, at 2 o'clock. Rev. D. J.
