    Frostburg, Md., Feb. 26 - The funeral of Harold Layman, 34, who died Sunday evening at Miners' Hospital, following an operation for an abscess on the brain, will be held at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Church, Garrett county.* Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mt. Layman, a resident of Avilton, is survived by his widow and the following children: Viola, Jack, Marie, June, Junior, and an infant son. He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Layman; two brothers, Lee of Mt. Savage and Everett at home; and also two sisters, Blanche of New Germany and Margaret of Meyersdale. Mr. Layman was a farmer occupying what is known as the Richard Layman farm in the Avilton section of Garrett county. The Cumberland Evening Times, February 26, 1935 [*no date was given]

    Grantsville, Md., Oct. 22 - Richard Thomas Layman, 66, died Monday night, after a lingering illness. A native of Garrett county, he lived in the Mount Zion section till about four years ago when he sold his farm and moved to Allegany county. After a brief residence there, he moved to Grantsville. Surviving are his wife, Anna Odessa Miller Layman, and the following children: Leander Layman and Mrs. William Miller, Grantsville; and Mrs. Leland Swauger, New Germany, and fifteen grandchildren. He was a brother of Lewis Layman, Avilton; Mark Layman, Jennings; Albert Layman, Baltimore; Mrs. Charles Chaney, Avilton, and Lulu Mulligan. Mr. Layman was a member of the Pentacostal Church, Cumberland, for several years. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday by Rev. Virgil R. Gillum. Interment will be at Mount Zion.     Grantsville, Md., March 16 - Sarah M. Miller, a native of New Germany and a pioneer resident of Garrett county, died early today at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry F. Durst, this place, after a lingering illness. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 2:30 p. m. from the Methodist Episcopal Church, New Germany, of which she was a lifelong member. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Crowe. Surviving are three sons, Howard M. Crowe, McHenry, Md.; George G. Crowe, LaVale, Md., and Harry O. Crowe, Grantsville, and six daughters, Mrs. Charles A. Baum, Berlin, Pa.; Mrs. J. L. Fresh, Frostburg; Mrs. Richard Layman, Avilton; Mrs. Cora Davies, Akron, O.; Mrs. Allen Leidinger, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Durst. She was a sister of Robert and Stewart Crowe, Avilton, and Webster Crowe, New Germany. She leaves also 37 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.     Grantsville, Md., March 17 — Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah M. Miller, who died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Durst, this place, will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. from the Methodist Episcopal Church, New Germany.
