  1. 1.  Charles Jacob Wolfe was born on 6 Aug 1893; died on 31 Mar 1964 in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland.

    Charles Jacob Wolfe, 70, retired assistant vice president of operations mechanical of the Western Maryland Railway Company, died Tuesday at 11:55 p.m. of a heart condition at the Washington County Hospital. Wolfe retired in 1958, having served the Western Maryland Railway for 53 years in various capacities from oil boy to machinist superintendent, motive power, and was promoted to his position of vice president before retirement. He was the son of the late Jacob H. Wolfe and Emma (Creque) Wolfe of Cumberland. He was born and reared in Cumberland, and was first employed in the Western Maryland shops at that point. Later he was transferred to Baltimore and Hagerstown in official capacities. He was a member of Baltimore Lodge 210, AF & AM, Baltimore R.A. Chapter 40; Md Cmdry No. 1, Knights Templar, Boumi Temple, and B.P.O. No 373, Hagerstown. He is survived by his wife, Oma Layman Wolfe; two nephews and one niece. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m., at the Rouzer Funeral Home, Dr. F. Norman VanBrunt officiating. The family will meet friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Honorary pallbearers will be W. Arthur Grotz, Eugene B. Williams, General Wm. C. Purnell, George M. Leilich, J. F. Eaton, Walter C. Kresge, Howard W. Reed, E. G. Reese, E.C. Leather, J. L. Triplett, I. Chambers, Dr. M. C. Smoot, Dr. John Staufffer, and Dr. Edson Moody.
