    Patrick Joseph McKenzie, 69, of Hyndman, Pa., passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born March 21, 1950, in Frostburg, Mr. McKenzie was the son of Blaine William McKenzie and the late Mary Helena (Sullivan) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence John McKenzie. A graduate of Bishop Walsh High School, Class of 1968, Patrick retired from the U.S. Coast Guard as Chief Warrant Officer with 20 years of service, having served in Vietnam. After retirement, Patrick graduated from Clark College in Vancouver, Wash., with an Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts, Professional Baking. In 1996 he received a diploma in Pastoral Studies through World Harvest Bible College in Columbus, Ohio. Patrick was founder and co-pastor of Spirit of Truth Northwest Worship Center in Washington State. He loved ministering to others, loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and was an avid reader of the Bible.
    He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and was an expert baker. Patrick was a member of the Barrelville Outdoor Club, the Kennell's Mills Sportsmen's Club, the National Rifle Association, and Trout Unlimited. He was a life member of the Henry Hart Post 1411 V.F.W. and the Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion. Patrick is survived by his daughter, Trina Sorensen; his twin brother, Paul McKenzie and wife, Becky; and his sister, Mary Ann Hartshorn. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Debbie McKenzie; his grandsons, Taylor and Christian; his nephews, John McKenzie and Aaron McKenzie and wife, Janiese; his niece, Maureen Hartshorn; as well as numerous cousins.
    Celebration of Patrick's life will be held at the Barrelville Outdoor Club on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul McKenzie officiating. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Teddy and Vicky Abucevicz, Jake and Leslie Wilhelm and family, his nurse, Ginger Raines, for all the love, friendship, care, and compassion given to Patrick. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in his name to the Barrelville Outdoor Club Santa Shoot, 13916 Barrelville Road, Mount Savage, MD 21545.     HYNDMAN, Pa. - Blaine W. McKenzie, 96, of Hyndman, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at Frostburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 25, 1923, in Sand Patch, he was the son of the late Robert McKenzie and Rebecca (Miller) McKenzie. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary
    (Sullivan) McKenzie; sons, Lawrence McKenzie and Patrick McKenzie; and a sister, Midge McKenzie Goetz. A graduate of Beall High School, Mr. McKenzie enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II and served as a staff sergeant in the Invasion of Normandy. Mr. McKenzie was a former commander of VFW Henry Hart Post 1411 and a member of the American Legion and the Barrelville Outdoor Club. As an avid outdoorsman, Blaine was renowned for his hunting and fishing prowess, sharing his love for trapping, morel and ginseng hunting with sons, nephews, and friends. He caught one of the largest muskies ever recorded in New York state when he landed a 59" muskellunge that weighed 48 lbs. and
    11 ounces. He won many medals for being an expert marksman and was an instructor for firearm safety. Mr. McKenzie is survived by his sister, Doris Swearman; a son, Paul McKenzie and his wife, Becky; daughter, Mary Ann McKenzie Hartshorn; daughter-in-law, Debbie McKenzie; grandson, John McKenzie; grandson, Aaron McKenzie and his wife, Janiese, and daughter, Ashton; granddaughters, Maureen Hartshorn and Trina Sorenson; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, from 1 to 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Paul McKenzie officiating. Interment will be in Cook's Cemetery, Wellersburg. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

A Navy veteran of World War II, Mrs. McKenzie was a graduate of Strayer’s Business Academy, Washington, D.C., and the Stillwater, Okla., Business College.     James M. McKenzie, died at his home in Greenville Township at 5:30 o’clock on Wednesday morning January 11, 1939, at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 14 days. He was born June 27, 1864, a son of Ambrose and Rachael (Long) McKenzie.
    He is survived by his wife, Rebecca McKenzie, and these children: Herbert, of Meyersdale; Elmer and Robert of Mt. Savage, MD.; Augustus, of Glencoe; James, of Cleveland, Ohio; Wilbert of Meyersdale R.D. 3; Mrs. Viola Zurbuck, of Akron, Ohio; and Mrs. Mary Blank of Mt. Savage MD. Thirty-eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Two children, Andrew McKenzie and Mrs. Ada Manhorn, preceded him to the grave. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o’clock on Saturday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Pocahontas by Rev. I.A. Strittmatter. Interment will follow in the church cemetery in charge of R. Reich and Son, Meyersdale morticians.

    Frostburg, July 28 – Mrs. Rebecca McKenzie, 76, widow of James McKenzie, died last night in Miners Hospital. She was a resident of Meyersdale, Pa. but for the past six months had been making her home with her son, Elmer McKenzie in Mt. Savage. Surviving are eight children. Elmer McKenzie, Robert McKenzie, Mrs. Mary Blank, Mt. Savage, James McKenzie, Cleveland, O., Mrs. Leo Zurbuck, Akron, O., Augustus McKenzie, Kennell Mills, Pa, and William McKenzie and Herbert McKenzie of Meyersdale. Also surviving are three sisters, three brothers, thirty-eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mrs. McKenzie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Pocohauntus (sic), Pa., from which the funeral will be held on Thursday. The body will be taken to the home of her son, Elmer McKenzie.
