    Jelene A. Bridges, 82, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, at Cumberland Healthcare Center. Born Nov. 30, 1934, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Kathryn Gilpin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd L. Bridges; her brother, Harry Gilpin; and her sister, Helen Legeer. Mrs. Bridges was a graduate of Allegany High School. She was a homemaker and her greatest love in life was spending time with her family. She is survived by her sister, Thelma Saathoff; four children and their spouses, Ricky and Deb Bridges, David and Patty Bridges, Blaine and Annette Bridges, and Carla and Robby Moore; eight grandchildren, Nathan Bridges, Jeremy Bridges, Shane Edwards, Heather Bridges, Blaine Bridges, Caitlyn Moore, Angela Morgan, and Justin Morgan; nine great-grandchildren; and close family friend, Kenny Burley. There will be a private family service at Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. The family would like to thank everyone at Cumberland Healthcare Center for the excellent care given to Jelene over the last two and a half years.     MOUNT SAVAGE - Albert P. (Jake) Bridges, 78, of here, died yesterday in Memorial Hospital. He was born in Chaneysville, Pa., the son of the late Jacob and Fannie (Blucker) Bridges. He was a retired coal miner. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was a veteran of World War II, and was a member of Old Rail Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Bridges is survived by his widow, Mrs. Pearl (Diehl) Bridges; four sons, Floyd, Howard and Eugene Bridges, all of here, and Paul Bridges, LaVale; one daughter, Mrs. Blanche Burton, Dundalk; three sisters, Mrs. Olive Caler, of here; Mrs. Mildred Troutman, Hyndman, and Mrs. Virginia Harden, Cumberland; two brothers, Cecil Bridges, Barrellville, and Leo Bridges, of here; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be in the form of contributions to the Maryland Chapter of the American Lung Association. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mt. Savage. Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Graveside military rites will be accorded by Old Rail Post VFW, Mt. Savage.     Western Maryland continues in the grip of its worst snow storm in years, with Leo T. Downey, Maryland Roads Commission, expressing doubt U. S. Route 40 west of Frostburg would be opened today. The storm already has taken one life, that of Harry Diehl, 73, Barrelville, who according to Dr. Linne H. Corson, county deputy medical examiner, died of exposure. Dr. Corson set the time of Diehl's death at 4 a. m. yesterday. The medical examiner said a neighbor heard Diehl cross her yard as he was on his way to his home about 1 'clock yesterday morning. He was last seen Monday about 10:30 p. m., when he made some purchases at a Barrelville store, Dr. Corson said. Mr. Diehl, who had been in apparent good health, worked at the Sunnyside mine until his retirement about 12 years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. A. P. Bridges, Sunnyside; one stepson, William Bartgis, Corriganville; three sisters, Mrs. A. J. Bridges, Sunnyside; Mrs. Max Ash, Flintstone; and Mrs. Sadie Wilhelm, Wellersburg, Pa.; two brothers, Frank and George Diehl, Wellersburg; a step-daughter, Mrs. Charles Krause, Star Junction, Pa., and five grandchildren.
