    Charles Elwood "Chill" Kerr, 73, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully in the presence of his sons, on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002, at Lyons Manor Nursing Home. Born March 13, 1929, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Charles Jordy Kerr and Martha (Phillips) Kerr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Dot Wright; and one brother, Oakie Kerr. Mr. Kerr was retired from the Kaiser Refractories and the Lyons Manor Nursing Home. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Frostburg and the Cresaptown Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2883, the National Rifle Association, and the Piney Mountain Sportsmen Club. Mr. Kerr was a lifelong outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, shooting, and fishing. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Festerman) Kerr, Cumberland; four sons, Chuck Kerr and wife Julie, Thurmont, Craig Kerr and wife Kathy, Merritt Island, Fla., Jim Kerr, Crown Point, Ind., and Jeff Kerr and wife Robin, Cumberland; six grandchildren, Dana Kerr, Mark Kerr, Carla Houck, Hillary Kerr, Matt Hagerman, and Greg Kerr; and four great-grandchildren, Megan and Amber Kerr and Layne and Keagan Houck. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Diane Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

    CUMBERLAND Dorothy (Festerman) Kerr, 74, of Cumberland, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at her residence. Born July 14, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Walter E. Festerman and Elizabeth (Laurie) Festerman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Chill Kerr, on Sept. 28, 2002; one sister, Thelma Joan Bolden; and one brother, James Festerman. Mrs. Kerr was a retired social worker with the State of Maryland. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Mountain Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Star, both of Frostburg, and was a former State of Maryland Commissioner for the National Bicycle League. Surviving are four sons, Chuck Kerr and wife Julie, Thurmont, Craig Kerr, Merritt Island, Fla., Jim Kerr, Crown Point, Ind., and Jeff Kerr and wife Robin, Cumberland; five grandchildren, Dana Kerr, Mark Kerr, Carla Houck, Hillary Kerr and Greg Kerr; four great-grandchildren, Megan and Amber Kerr, and Layne and Keagan Houck; two sisters, Nancy L. Screen, Deep Creek, and Carol A. Roy and husband Thurl, Dry Fork, W.Va.; and one brother, John Dale Festerman and wife Sharon, Frostburg. Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. by members of Mountain Chapter 15 Order of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Kerr was a retired miner and was a member of the Frostburg Republican Club and a charter member of the Frostburg Volunteer Fire Company. His wife, Effie (Adkins) Kerr, preceded him in death. Surviving are four sons, Charles, William and John Kerr, all of Frostburg, and Glenn Kerr, Cumberland; a daughter, Mrs. Viola Alexander, Lonaconing; three brothers, William and James Kerr, Frostburg, and Alex Kerr, Homestead, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Jean Menderson, Phoenix, Ariz., 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The wife of Thomas Kerr and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Adkins, she was a member of Welsh Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving, besides her husband, are five sons, Charles, William, Jack and Walter, all of Frostburg, and Glen, Cumberland; daughter, Mrs. Viola Alexander, Lonaconing, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
