FROSTBURG- Hubert Glenn Crowe, 89, of Finzel passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center with daughters Sherry and Julie by his side. Born December 5, 1924 in Finzel, he was the son of the late Roy Edward Crowe and Clara Lucretia (Wolfe) Crowe. He is preceded in death by his wife Anna Margaret (Nelson) Crowe, son-in-law Jim Deem, 8 brothers and 1 sister. Hubert was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and spent many years doing remodeling work. He was also a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He is survived by and loved by sons, Andrew and wife, Joyce, Frostburg; James and wife Deborah, Halifax, VA ;daughters Elizabeth "Betsy" Deem, Finzel; Sharon Presley and husband Floyd, Eckhart; Julie Dzaack and husband Ken, Canaan Valley, WV; and Valerie Wilson and husband Kevin, Finzel; grandchildren Donna (Crowe) Lucier and husband Nate, Stephen Crowe and wife Waleska, Jessica Crowe, Brian Crowe, Ashley Wilson, Megan (Dzaack) Bayonet and husband Chris, Michael Deem and wife Katie, Melissa Crowe and special friend Gerald Edmonds, Jason Wilson and wife Whitney, Heather (Deem) Kossar and husband Tony, Amy (Dzaack) Curtis and husband Joe, Jon Deem, Erin (Dzaack) O'Dell and husband Chase, Kimberly Crowe; great-grandchildren, Anna Lucier, Gabriel Crowe, Caedon Lucier, Carson Wilson, Emma Bayonet, Sophie Lucier and Reed Wilson. He is also survived by a brother Archie Crowe and wife Geraldine, Keyser, WV; and a sister Ruth Stanton, Grantsville, and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the family cemetery lot. FROSTBURG — Anna Margaret (Nelson) Crowe, 81, of Finzel, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at the WMHS Frostburg Nursing and Rehab Center. Born July 22, 1931 in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Nelson and Elvira (Hendley) Nelson. She was preceded in death by son-in-law Jim Deem. Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an avid reader and loved music. Anna was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Clara L. (Wolfe) Crowe; two daughters, Mrs. Hilda Ellifritz, Cresaptown, and Mrs. Ruth Stanton, Grantsville; ten sons, Rev. Raymond Crowe, Baltimore; Rev. Frederick Crowe, Kalispell, Mont.; Rev. Carl Crowe, Rockbridge Baths, Va.; Willard, Frank, Harold and Hubert Crowe, all of Finzel; Archie Crowe, Keyser, W. Born in Finzel, she was a daughter of the late Claymore and Lucretia (Arnold) Wolfe. Her husband, Roy E. Crowe, died in 1960. She was a member of Johnson Emmanuel Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hilda Ellifritz, Cresaptown, and Mrs. Ruth Stanton, Grantsville; nine sons, Rev. Raymond Crowe, Glen Burnie; Rev. Frederick Crowe, Chateau, Mont.; Rev. FROSTBURG — Andrew M. Nelson, 78, of 124 Maple Street, died yesterday in Miners Hospital. He had been ill eight years. Born in Eckhart, he was a son of the late John A. and Rose (Crowe) Nelson. Mr. Nelson was formerly operator of the Nelson Grocery on Broadway, and was a member of Frostburg United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Mountain Lodge 99 AF and AM and the Independent Grocers Association. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Elvira (Hendley) Nelson, two daughters, Mrs. Frederic Fagan, Rockville, and Mrs. Hubert Crowe, Finzel; four brothers, Herbert and Raymond Nelson, both of Barberton, Ohio; John Nelson, Philadelphia, and Owen Nelson, Eckhart; five sisters, Mrs. Ada Diehl, and Mrs. Ruth Young, both of Barberton; Mrs. Emma Engle, Eckhart; Mrs. Stella Krause, Frostburg, and Mrs. Marion Ward, Gulfport, Fla., and seven grandchildren. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 3 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home tomorrow at 2 p.m. Rev. Leonard Ranson and Rev. George Wehler will officiate and interment will be in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
