FROSTBURG — Russell C. "Mike" Diehl, 78, of 120 Frost Avenue, died yesterday evening in Miners Hospital where he was admitted on August 8. He had been in failing health three years. Mr. Diehl was a retired manager of the local office of the C&P Telephone Company and a member of the Western Council Telephone Pioneers of Maryland. He was a former player and manager of the Cumberland Colts and managed the Frostburg Demons. A native of Friend's Cove, Pa., he came to Cumberland when he was a youngster. He was a son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Diehl) Diehl. Besides his wife, Mrs. Ada (Nelson) Wagner Diehl, he is survived by two sons, Harvey Diehl, Keistertown, and Robert Diehl, Dundalk; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Thelma Wilson, Frostburg, Mrs. Margaret Coler, Marietta, Ohio; Mrs. Marion Schnee, and Mrs. Helen Ferdinand, both of Barberton, Ohio; two stepsons, Marvin Wagner, Dayton, Ohio; John Wagner Wadsworth, Ohio; two brothers, Clark Diehl, Kent, Ohio; Harvey Diehl, Sun City, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Grimes and Mrs. Ruth Knight, both of Cumberland; Mrs. Irene Gross, Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Marie Patrick, Cleveland; and two grandchildren. Mr. Diehl was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ. The body is at the Durst Funeral Home where friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Cumberland News, August 22, 1969
