Services for Walter Merle (Jack) McKenzie, 69, who was found dead Monday in his room at Central YMCA, will be conducted today at 11 a. m. at Wendt Funeral Home. Rev. Warren W. Watts will officiate and interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. A native of Cumberland, he was a son of the late Ulysses E. and Ora J. (Hines) McKenzie. Mr. McKenzie was employed as a cook and was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include a brother, James E. McKenzie, San Diego, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Toothman, Morgantown, W. Va., and Mrs. Ethel Beeghly, Virginia Beach, Va. The Cumberland News, August 12, 1970

Ulysses E. McKenzie, 81, formerly of Cresaptown, died yesterday in Morgantown, W. Va., where he had resided the past eight months. He was a retired blacksmith. Mr. McKenzie was born February 25, 1869, in Cresaptown. His parents were the late Newton W. and Sarah K. (Starkey) McKenzie. Survivors include his widow, the former Miss Ora J. Hines; flve children, Walter M. and James E. McKenzie, Mrs. Eva M. Toothman, Mrs. Gladys Chesshire and Mrs. Ethel Beeghly, all of this city; two half-brothers, Burt Dermer, Eckhart, and John Dermer, Philadelphia; a sister, Mrs. Emma Goth, Washington; two half-sisters, Mrs. Edith Shober, Cleveland, and Mrs. Grace Walker, this city; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The body is at the Scarpelli Funeral Home where services will be conducted tomorrow at 11 a. m. by Rev. A. B. L. Fisher, pastor Grace Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Per Ray Leidinger: Allegany County Marriage records lists Sarah as "27, widow". SHe and Rudolph Deremer were married August 31, 1878 by W. McK. Hammack. Sarah was born abt. 1851.

Item, I give, devise and bequeath the rest and residue of my estate as follows: to my son, Henry H. McKenzie and Florrence Ann McKenzie, one acre of land, more or less, containing my residence and outbuildings, equal share and share alike.
Item, I give and devise and bequeath also to my dughter[sic] Florrence Ann, about twenty acres of land, more or less, designated by marked lines.
