NOTE: I have not found anything to prove that Jeremiah was a prisoner of war; but many of the men who served in the 2nd and 3rd Maryland Potomac Home Brigade were captured and were prisoners of war. Many of those captured were paroled the next day. The Military Affairs Register Maryland Volunteers which is where I would have found that he was a prisoner is not complete. Some men have a lot of information and some just have their name and company listed.

Based on the enlistment date, I would doubt that Jeremiah was a prisoner of war. He entered the service in 1865 as the war was almost over. The men of these two regiments were captured and paroled in 1862. History of the 2nd Maryland Potomac Home Brigade does not list them as being in any battles after 1864.

    Hope this is some help
