Ervin 'Ivan' Yutzy, Swanton, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland. Born in Frostburg, he was a son of the late Elmer and Emma (Baker) Yutzy. He had been employed as a truck driver for Fike’s Vault Co., and also at the Somerset Foundry, Diehl’s Exxon Station, and Clapper’s Building Supply Co. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and served on board the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier. Survivors include his wife, Agnes Viola (McKenzie) Yutzy; three sons, Ivan Julius Yutzy, Somerset, Pa., Thomas Yutzy, Florida, and Gerald Keith Yutzy, Grantsville; two brothers, Cobey Yutzy, Frostburg, and Harold Yutzy, Mount Savage; two sisters, Mae Margaret Hoover, Frostburg, and Rosella Lottig, Philadelphia, Pa.; and six grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where a service was conducted Monday, Aug. 16, with the Rev. Duane Frederick officiating. GRANTSVILLE — Agnes Viola Yutzy, 60, of Grantsville, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at her residence. Born Feb. 8, 1949, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Dayton and Virgie (Garlitz) McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Yutzy; and three brothers, Dalton, Bill and Patrick McKenzie. Mrs. Yutzy was a homemaker and a member of Meadow Mtn. Mennonite Church. She is survived by two sons, Ivan Julius Yutzy, Sipesville, Pa., Gerald Keith Yutzy, Friendsville; five brothers, Bryan McKenzie, Edward McKenzie and Harold McKenzie, all of Grantsville, Larry McKenzie and Norman McKenzie, both of Oakland; 11 grandchildren, Jessica Lee Yutzy, Gerald Keith Yutzy Jr., Justin Sweitzer, Joseph Yutzy, Chelsey Yutzy, Matthew Yutzy, Raegan Yutzy, Kiana Yutzy, Tyler Yutzy, Abigayle Yutzy and Gavin Yutzy. Born Dec. 22, 1917, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Ella (Hemmings) Garlitz. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dayton A. McKenzie, and two sons, Dalton Anthony McKenzie and Patrick James McKenzie. She was a member of Old St. Ann's Catholic Church, Avilton. She was the daughter of Thomas and Alice (Haney) Hemings and was born in Bedford. She was the widow of John Garlitz. Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Beeman, Conneaut, Ohio; Mrs. Barbara Cadwallader, Gilmore; Mrs. Nancy Hetz and Mrs. Ora Wiland, Avilton; Mrs. Virgie McKenzie, Cove; and Mrs. Nellie McKenzie, Garrett County; six sons, Clayton Garlitz, Zihlman; and Harry, Charles, Ralph, Sheridan and Edward Garlitz, all at home; a sister, Mrs. Emma Winner, Midland; three half-sisters, Mrs. Edna McKenzie, Winchester Road; Mrs. Rose Carey, Frostburg; and Mrs. Greta Miller, Shaft; a brother, Gus Hemings, Confluence; two half-brothers, Harry Smith, Midland, and James Smith, Eckhart.
